Carlo Ancelotti has signed a contract extension with the Brazil national football team that will keep him in charge through the 2030 World Cup.
The Italian coach was appointed Brazil manager in May 2025 following his departure from Real Madrid. Since taking over the national side, Ancelotti has guided Brazil to qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which is set to take place across Canada, Mexico, and the United States next month.
Speaking after the announcement, the 66-year-old said he quickly realized the importance of football in Brazil and described the role as a special experience from the moment he arrived. Ancelotti explained that over the past year, he and the Brazil Football Federation had worked together with the goal of returning the national team to the top of world football.
He added that both he and the federation wanted to continue building on that progress with more victories, more development, and more long-term success. Ancelotti also thanked the federation for its confidence in him and said he was pleased to continue the partnership for another four years.
Since taking charge, Ancelotti has overseen 10 matches, recording five wins, two draws, and three defeats. While his time with the national team is still in its early stages, Brazil's qualification campaign and improved performances have strengthened confidence in the project ahead of the next two World Cups.
Brazil remain the most successful nation in World Cup history, having won the tournament five times. However, the country has not lifted the trophy since 2002, and expectations remain high for the team to return to the summit of international football.
Ancelotti is expected to announce his squad for the upcoming World Cup on May 18. Brazil will open their campaign against Morocco on June 13 before also facing Haiti and Scotland in Group C.
Brazil Football Federation president Samir Xaud described the contract extension as a historic moment for both the federation and Brazilian football. He said the agreement represents another important step in strengthening the national team structure and maintaining Brazil's position among the elite sides in world football.
Xaud added that the federation remains committed to providing a modern, competitive environment capable of supporting long-term success on the international stage.
Ancelotti's extension signals Brazil's confidence in his leadership as the country aims to end its long wait for another World Cup title and reestablish itself as the dominant force in international football.
