Bournemouth have removed defender Alex Jimenez from their matchday plans while they look into posts circulating on social media involving the player.
The 21-year-old Spanish right-back, who joined the club from AC Milan last summer, will miss Saturday's Premier League match against Fulham as the situation is reviewed.
The club confirmed they are treating the matter seriously and have already begun an internal investigation. In an official statement, Bournemouth said they are aware of the content being shared online and are working to understand the circumstances surrounding it.
As part of the immediate response, Jimenez has been left out of the squad for the upcoming fixture. The club also indicated that there will be no further public comment until the process is complete.
Jimenez originally arrived at Bournemouth on loan before completing a permanent move in February. His long-term deal runs until 2031, reflecting the club's belief in his potential when he first joined from AC Milan.
Since settling on the south coast, the defender has been a regular feature in the squad. He has made 32 appearances this season across all competitions and contributed one goal, which came in a memorable 3-2 victory over Liverpool at home.
The decision to suspend him from selection comes at a crucial point in the Premier League campaign, with Bournemouth still focused on finishing the season strongly. However, the club has prioritised addressing the issue internally before allowing him to return to match action.
At this stage, no details have been publicly confirmed regarding the nature of the social media posts being investigated. Bournemouth's statement made clear that the matter is being handled with seriousness, but they have chosen not to disclose further information while inquiries continue.
Jimenez's absence leaves a gap in the defensive setup for the Fulham match, with the coaching staff expected to adjust their options accordingly. The club has not indicated how long the investigation will take or when the player might be available for selection again.
For now, Bournemouth's focus remains on the investigation process and maintaining stability within the squad as they prepare for their next Premier League outing without one of their regular defenders.
