Carlos Sainz completed a double race distance for previously struggling Williams and pushed his Ferrari successor, Lewis Hamilton, off the top of the testing timesheets in Bahrain on Thursday. Seven-time champion Hamilton had been fastest in the morning session, but Sainz, doing a full day with a monster 127 laps, lapped the desert Sakhir circuit in one minute 29.348 seconds for the team that finished ninth of 10 last year.

Australian Jack Doohan has won praise from Alpine Formula One team boss Oliver Oakes for a 'punchy' pre-season response to speculation about his Formula One future. Doohan, 22, made his debut for the Renault-owned outfit in Abu Dhabi last December and is starting his first season on home soil in Melbourne on March 16.

Ferrari win case to delay Cardile's start. Ferrari has secured a court order blocking its former technical director, Enrico Cardile, from starting work at Aston Martin until July 18. The ruling resolves a dispute between the two Formula 1 teams following Cardile's move to Aston Martin as chief technical officer.

BMW has officially confirmed: it will not be fielding a third Hypercar to the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. Instead, it will concentrate on its two existing entries. The decision was partially based on a dense racing calendar in June, Motorsport head Andreas Roos explained.
