Ariana Grande is stepping into a fresh creative season. On Tuesday (April 28), the global pop star officially revealed that her eighth studio album will be titled Petal, sharing its release date and visual identity across social media platforms.
The project, which Grande co-wrote and co-produced with longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh, is set to arrive July 31 via Republic Records. The minimalist cover art features a striking black-and-white portrait of the singer, her hair worn loose in soft waves — a subtle yet notable departure from her signature look.
According to early details, the album will include 12 tracks. In a brief statement accompanying the announcement, Grande described Petal as "something full of life," shaped by the idea of "growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging." The sentiment hints at a reflective body of work that builds on emotional themes explored in her previous releases.
The upcoming record follows 2024's Eternal Sunshine, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 and produced chart-topping singles including "Yes, And?" and "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)." That era marked a major milestone in Grande's career, blending introspective songwriting with polished pop production.
Speculation around new music had been building for weeks, fueled by studio glimpses and cryptic hints shared with fans. Earlier this month, Grande confirmed she had returned to recording, signaling a shift after previously emphasizing her focus on acting projects such as Wicked.
The announcement also arrives as Grande prepares for a summer tour initially tied to Eternal Sunshine. With Petal now on the horizon, the new material is expected to play a central role in the upcoming shows.
