Actress Julia Fox is facing a wave of criticism after attending a Halloween event dressed in a replica of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s iconic pink suit, stained with fake blood to evoke the tragic scene of her husband’s assassination. The outfit, worn at a party on October 30, 2025, instantly triggered public uproar and sharp condemnation from Kennedy family members.

The costume referenced the day in 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and Jackie Kennedy famously stayed in her blood-stained suit as a symbol of trauma, strength and protest. Fox’s version featured the same signature pink pillbox hat, white gloves and matching two-piece suit, visibly splattered with red. Moments after photos circulated online, critics called the look “disrespectful,” “tasteless,” and “glorifying political violence.”

Among the strongest reactions came from Jackie Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, who took to social media to voice his outrage. He described the costume as “disgusting, desperate and dangerous,” and explicitly denounced the choice. Followers on X (formerly Twitter) widely echoed his sentiment, asserting that Fox’s decision was insensitive to a historical tragedy still deeply felt by many.

Fox, in turn, defended her choice in a detailed Instagram post. She explained that the ensemble was meant “not as a costume, but as a statement.” She noted that Jackie Kennedy refused to change out of her bloody outfit, saying “I want them to see what they’ve done,” and argued that her own attire was intended as a form of tribute, “performance, protest, and mourning all at once.” She described the visual as “beauty and horror, poise and devastation,” highlighting themes of trauma, power, and resistance.

Despite the explanation, many said the timing and presentation were inappropriate. Critics contended that the moment lacked any sense of reverence and instead trafficked in shock value. Others pointed out that the Kennedy family remains alive and that the pink suit is part of a national archive still treated with solemnity. Whether the moment will impact Fox’s public image long-term remains to be seen, but in the immediate aftermath it stands as one of the most widely debated celebrity Halloween looks of the year.
