Dolly Parton wants the world to know she's alive, well, and still sparkling with energy. The beloved country icon, actress, and philanthropist took to social media this week to address rumors about her health, jokingly assuring fans that she's "not dying" and remains very much in the saddle. In a video posted on Wednesday, the 79-year-old star appeared radiant on the set of a Grand Ole Opry commercial, dressed in her signature fringe and wit. "Do I look sick to you? I'm workin' hard here," she said with a laugh, her caption reading, "I ain't dead yet!"
Parton explained that while she has faced minor health issues in recent months, her fans' fears were exaggerated. She revealed she'd been dealing with lingering problems that worsened after her husband, Carl Dean, fell ill and later passed away in March. "I didn't take care of myself for a while," she admitted. "When I finally went to the doctor, they told me there were a few things I needed to fix." She reassured fans that none of it was major, adding that she canceled some December shows to rest and recover.
The concern intensified after her sister Freida posted an emotional Facebook message asking for prayers, sparking speculation about Dolly's health. Realizing the unintended chaos, Freida later clarified that her message had been misinterpreted. "It was just a little sister asking for prayers," she explained, while another sister, Stella, stepped in to echo that Dolly was doing fine.
Despite the confusion, Dolly remained her cheerful, faithful self, thanking everyone for their concern and their prayers. "I can always use prayers," she smiled, "but I want you to hear it from me—I'm okay." Parton, whose legacy includes countless hit songs, acting roles, and her philanthropy through initiatives like the Imagination Library, reminded fans that she still has work to do. "I'm not ready to die yet," she quipped. "I don't think God is through with me, and I ain't done workin'." It was the kind of reassurance only Dolly could deliver : warm, witty, and full of grace.
