The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week on Saturday, marking her first return to the prestigious event in over a decade. The former actress, now a global style icon and philanthropist, attended the Balenciaga show to support her long-time friend and the fashion house’s new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli.
Making the solo trip across the Atlantic, Meghan’s attendance reflected her “support for his new creative chapter,” according to a spokesperson for the duchess. Piccioli, formerly of Valentino, has collaborated with Meghan on several of her high-profile looks over the years. “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance,” the spokesperson added. “Tonight was no different. This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship.”
The 44-year-old duchess arrived in style, donning a striking white ensemble consisting of wide-leg trousers and a matching blazer with a cape draped elegantly over her shoulders. She completed the look with sleek black pointed-toe heels, minimal jewelry, and her hair pulled back into a polished bun. The outfit, described by fashion observers as a blend of sophistication and minimalism, perfectly embodied her signature “high-low” style—a balance of luxury and simplicity that she has become known for.
Before arriving at the show, Meghan announced her presence in Paris through an Instagram story showing her car ride through the city’s chic streets. At the Balenciaga show, she was photographed warmly greeting Vogue’s global editorial director Anna Wintour and acclaimed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, highlighting her continued connections in both the fashion and entertainment worlds.
Later in the evening, Meghan was seen in a sleek black dress accessorized with a gold necklace and stud earrings as she stepped into a car—another effortlessly glamorous moment captured by photographers.
The star-studded Balenciaga presentation is one of the highlights of Paris Fashion Week, which runs until Tuesday and features major fashion houses including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, and Hermès.
Meghan’s reemergence at the fashion spectacle comes amid a busy year for the duchess. She recently launched a digital lifestyle shop that allows fans to browse her curated recommendations for clothing, accessories, and jewelry. In her recent Netflix series, she discussed her approach to fashion, describing it as a mix of “designer and accessible pieces” that reflect her personal ethos of elegance without excess.
The Duchess of Sussex currently resides in Montecito, California, with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. While Meghan has largely focused on her creative ventures and advocacy work, Prince Harry has made several solo trips to the UK in recent years, including to attend charity events and court hearings.
Meghan’s last visit to Britain was in September 2022, when she attended a charity event and later joined the royal family following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, the couple has continued to balance their life in the US with select public appearances—this latest one in Paris serving as a reminder of Meghan’s enduring influence in both fashion and global culture.
