Former Bachelor star and Dancing With the Stars champion Melissa Rycroft was arrested in Texas last month on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

According to multiple outlets, the 42-year-old was taken into custody in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on September 23 and booked into the Tarrant County Jail. Records indicate she remained in custody for roughly eight hours before being released on a $1,000 bond with a promise to appear in court.

Her attorney, Bret Martin, issued a strong statement following the arrest, emphasizing the need for due process. "I want to remind the public of the fundamental principle of our justice system...every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty," Martin said. "My client was arrested on the allegation of Driving While Intoxicated. An arrest is no indication of guilt."

He added, "It is imperative that we closely examine the circumstances of this case — including the conduct of law enforcement, the toxicology results, and the facts surrounding her arrest — before any conclusions are drawn. We respectfully request that the media and the public allow the legal process to unfold, and withhold any judgment whatsoever until all of the evidence has been properly analyzed and presented in a court of law."

Rycroft has not publicly addressed the arrest and has remained silent on social media since early September.

The Texas native first gained national attention in 2009 on Season 13 of The Bachelor, where she accepted Jason Mesnick's proposal during the finale. However, during the "After the Final Rose" special, Mesnick ended the engagement to pursue runner-up Molly Malaney, who later became his wife.

Following her television heartbreak, Rycroft reconnected with former boyfriend Tye Strickland. The couple married in December 2009 and share three children: Ava, Beckett, and Cayson.

Beyond The Bachelor, Rycroft became a fan favorite on Dancing With the Stars. She placed third in Season 8 with partner Tony Dovolani before returning for the All-Stars season in 2012, where the pair won the Mirrorball Trophy, making them the first-ever all-star champions. She also hosted Bachelor Pad and starred in her own reality series, Melissa & Tye.

For now, Rycroft's case remains pending as legal proceedings move forward.
