Kate Gosselin is opening up about the sudden accident that left her hospitalized and undergoing major surgery.
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, 50, revealed via TikTok on Tuesday that her puppy, Meika, unintentionally caused the ordeal. "Meika ... ran into me full-speed ahead, and I ended up with a tibial plateau fracture," Gosselin explained from her hospital bed. The condition, which impacts the knee, is considered a critical load-bearing injury, according to Physio-pedia.com.
Doctors told the former reality star the fracture was "life-altering." Gosselin underwent surgery that required plates and pins in her leg, a procedure she later described as one of her "top three most painful" experiences. "My leg is really hurting, I'm going to need to say something. It's, like, unable to be ignored," she admitted, noting she was prescribed five pain medications.
Earlier that day, Gosselin had shared a cryptic post asking fans for prayers, uploading a photo of her arm with an IV and a pulse oximeter. "Please pray for me tonight and tomorrow 🙏. I will be fine, but I'm scared and would appreciate your prayers!" she wrote at the time.
Once she was able, the Kate Plus Date alum offered more detail, even giving a shoutout to the "ice machine" helping her manage swelling through continuous cold therapy. "I have an ice machine, and let me tell you, I love it," she said, joking that while insurance might claim credit, "I probably bought it."
Fans also noticed a quiet presence in the background. Just days earlier, Page Six reported that Gosselin was dating her longtime bodyguard, Steve Neild. During one TikTok livestream, Neild briefly appeared delivering her coffee, though Gosselin avoided putting him fully on camera.
The update adds another chapter to Gosselin's candid online presence. In recent months, she's been increasingly open with followers, sharing glimpses of her personal life, finances, and family while staying active on TikTok.
For now, recovery is her focus. As she told fans, "Emergencies don't care about schedules," but she promised more story time when she feels ready.
