Actor Josh Hartnett was briefly hospitalized following a car accident in St. John's, Newfoundland, when the vehicle he was traveling in collided with a police patrol car. Authorities confirmed that the crash occurred in the early morning hours of September 25 and left both vehicles with significant damage.

Hartnett, 47, was a passenger in an SUV driven by a 59-year-old man. Both the driver and Hartnett sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, while the police officer involved in the collision was also treated as a precaution. Hartnett has since been released and has returned to work, according to his representatives.

The actor had been traveling from the set of his upcoming Netflix series when the incident occurred. The untitled project, created by Jesse McKeown of The Umbrella Academy fame, is set in a small coastal town haunted by a mysterious sea creature. Production began in August and features an ensemble cast including Mackenzie Davis, Charlie Heaton, and Ruby Stokes, with Hartnett also serving as an executive producer.

The incident raised immediate concerns about the continuation of filming, but production has since resumed with Hartnett back on set. While shaken, he expressed gratitude for the quick response of emergency services and is reportedly focusing on completing the project.

Hartnett, best known for films such as The Virgin Suicides and Pearl Harbor, has taken a more selective approach to his career in recent years. He has also embraced family life with his wife, actress Tamsin Egerton, and their four children. In past interviews, he has expressed a desire to take on roles his children could watch, though he admits Hollywood tends to cast him differently now.

Despite the unexpected setback, Hartnett appears determined to carry on with his current commitments. Fans and colleagues have expressed relief at the minor nature of his injuries, with many looking forward to his return in the new Netflix series.
