Kim Kardashian recently shared a story about how her mother, Kris Jenner, once tricked her into an awkward blind date by disguising it as a business meeting.
Speaking during her September 24 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 44-year-old reality star explained that the incident happened before Keeping Up with the Kardashians even aired. "It was this TV executive and she told me it was a job interview, but she told him it was a date," Kim revealed.
Kardashian recalled how her mother sent her to The Ivy in Los Angeles, a popular celebrity restaurant. "I pull up and I'm talking about, like, what I want to do. And I had a résumé on me!" she said, drawing laughter from Fallon and the audience. "Five minutes in, I realized what was up [so] I, like, put it in my purse." She admitted that she was furious with her mom at the time, joking, "I was like, 'I'm gonna kill you.'"
When Fallon asked if there had been any chemistry, Kim was blunt: "No." She also noted that the man "never knew until, like, years and years later" that the meeting wasn't what she thought it was.
Kris Jenner, seated in the audience alongside Khloé Kardashian, gave her own perspective, claiming, "He totally knew because he was also an Emmy award-winning producer." As she began to say more, Kim quickly cut in with, "Mom, can you stop?" to the delight of the crowd. Kris continued, however, recalling that the man had joked, "'Would it help if I brought my Emmy with me?'" Khloé responded by calling that "a red flag."
Fallon pressed further, asking if Kris was still friends with the man, but she only replied, "I plead the Fifth." The exchange ended with Kim and Kris vowing to "talk about it later."
Despite the setup gone wrong, Kim insisted she would still "trust" her mother's advice on dating, though Khloé admitted she wouldn't get involved because she is "not a good picker."
Kardashian, who has been married three times and shares four children with ex-husband Kanye West, is currently single. Though she joked about her kids making lists of who they think she should date, Kim told Fallon she isn't seeing anyone for now.
