Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks have officially confirmed their engagement, nearly six years after first being linked.
On September 12, Gabriella, 29, shared the news with her more than 200,000 Instagram followers, posting a series of intimate photos with Liam, 35. One black-and-white shot showed the model leaning into the Hunger Games star as she flashed her sparkling diamond ring, while another image offered a close-up of the impressive jewel. She captioned the post with a simple white heart emoji.
Friends and fans quickly flooded the comments with excitement. "So thrilled for you and Liam! Congratulations, here's to a fabulous life shared together xxx," one person wrote, while another added, "Congratulations Gabby and Liam" A third gushed, "Omggg congratulations angel!! So incredibly happy for you."
Engagement rumours had first circulated a month earlier when Gabriella was spotted wearing a diamond ring during a family celebration for Liam's brother, Chris Hemsworth. The model wore the piece with a yellow mini dress and sunglasses while Liam kept it casual in a sleeveless shirt and shorts.
The couple began dating in late 2019, not long after Liam's high-profile split from Miley Cyrus. The actor and pop star, who first met while filming The Last Song in 2010, had an on-again-off-again romance that culminated in a brief marriage from December 2018 to August 2019. Their divorce was finalized in January 2020.
Since then, Liam and Gabriella have kept much of their relationship out of the spotlight. They made their red-carpet debut in 2021 at the Gold Dinner charity event and have since appeared together at select family and public occasions, including the U.K. premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in May 2024. In November that same year, the pair shared glimpses of their vacation to Abu Dhabi, posting a video of themselves holding hands at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Gabriella has also expressed her feelings for Liam publicly. In January, she celebrated his 35th birthday with an Instagram post captioned, "Happy Birthday to my sunshine."
While both have largely chosen privacy, Gabriella explained in a 2021 interview with Stellar magazine: "My personal relationship is very, very important and very sacred to me. And I feel like in an industry where so much is put out on show, there are some things you just want to keep to yourself."
