Nina Dobrev's recent red carpet appearance has stirred speculation after she was spotted without her engagement ring just days before her breakup with Shaun White became public.
The Vampire Diaries alum, 36, attended the premiere of the film Eternity at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, where she dazzled in a sleek black silk gown paired with sparkling silver heels. However, fans quickly noticed the absence of her five-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring, a piece she had proudly worn since her engagement to the Olympic snowboarder in October 2024.
Dobrev's appearance came only four days before news broke that she and White, 39, had ended their engagement after five years together. A source close to the couple revealed to People that the decision was mutual.
"It wasn't an easy choice, but it was made with love and deep respect for one another," the insider shared.
The couple was last photographed together on August 31 at a Los Angeles farmers market, where Dobrev was still seen wearing her ring. Just earlier this week, the actress had also posted a carousel of photos on Instagram, with the ring still prominently displayed, leaving many shocked by the sudden news.
The exact reason behind the breakup remains unclear. Representatives for both Dobrev and White have not provided any comment.
The pair confirmed their engagement nearly a year ago through a romantic Instagram post captioned, "RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé 💍♾️," alongside snapshots from White's surprise proposal at The Golden Swan. Their relationship, which began in May 2020, quickly became a fan favorite, with both stars frequently sharing glimpses of their adventures and milestones.
Earlier this year, Dobrev revealed that wedding planning had not yet begun, explaining that they wanted to fully enjoy their engagement phase.
"The fiancé period is short, and we really wanted to soak it all in before rushing into the next chapter," she told E! News in March.
