Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may have shared their engagement joy with fans, but their upcoming wedding will be anything but a flashy Hollywood affair.

A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that the pop superstar and Kansas City Chiefs tight end are planning a deeply personal celebration. "It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle," the insider revealed. "They both have a small, close circle of friends, and they want to respect their privacy as they take this next step."

Swift, 35, and Kelce, also 35, announced their engagement on Instagram on August 26 after two years of dating. Their joint post featured candid photos from the proposal and a lighthearted caption: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

Kelce proposed with a stunning old mine brilliant cut diamond, which Swift has been proudly showing off. "She's incredibly happy," the source added. "Everything about this moment feels perfect to her."

Though the wedding will be kept low-key, speculation has swirled about the possible venue. An insider previously hinted that Swift's sprawling $28 million estate in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, famous for her Fourth of July gatherings, is a strong contender.

Kelce's family couldn't be happier. His brother Jason and sister-in-law Kylie have expressed their excitement, sharing that their four daughters are thrilled to gain another aunt. "We love love, and we love Taylor and Trav," Kylie said in a recent interview.

The engagement comes during a pivotal time for both stars. Kelce has just kicked off his 13th NFL season, while Swift is gearing up for the October 3 release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

As for planning the big day, Kelce admitted he hasn't thought much about it yet. Speaking on his New Heights podcast, he joked, "I haven't thought for one second about a bachelor party, but when it comes time to plan, it's gonna go crazy."

For now, the couple is savoring their engagement privately. As the source summed up, "They want their wedding to reflect who they are, authentic, intimate, and filled with love.
