Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum, has spoken publicly for the first time about his separation from wife Kristin Cabot following the viral kiss cam incident that drew national attention during Coldplay's July concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Kristin, who was serving as Chief People Officer at Astronomer, was filmed alongside her then-boss, Andy Byron, during the show on July 16. As the camera panned across the crowd, it landed on Kristin and Byron. She immediately shifted away while he crouched down, trying to avoid the lens. The unusual reaction caught the attention of Coldplay's Chris Martin, who told the audience, "Either they're having an affair, or they are just very shy."

The clip sparked widespread memes and headlines, particularly because Byron was also reportedly married at the time. His wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, later removed his surname from her social media and moved out of their shared home. Within days, Astronomer announced that both Byron and Kristin had resigned. The company emphasized, "Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met."

Amid the uproar, Andrew Cabot's representatives confirmed that his marriage to Kristin had already unravelled before the concert. A spokesperson told PEOPLE, "They were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert. Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening. Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they've always valued."

Kristin submitted her divorce petition in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on August 13, just a few weeks after the concert. Court filings indicated the couple had attempted mediation before deciding to end their marriage. Andrew, 61, has two children from a previous relationship; he and Kristin share no children together. Kristin was previously married to Kenneth Thornby, with whom she has a child.

Byron, who had led Astronomer during its expansion, stepped down, while Kristin's departure followed shortly after. For Andrew Cabot, the statement marked his only public comment, as his team confirmed "no further public comment will be made."
