Hollywood actress Denise Richards is officially seeking spousal support from estranged husband Aaron Phypers as their divorce continues to unfold. In her recent court filing, Richards asked the judge to grant her financial support while blocking Phypers from receiving any from her. She also requested that he cover her attorney’s fees.
A notable detail in her filing is that she left the official separation date as “to be determined,” while Phypers previously claimed they split on July 4. The couple had been married since 2018, but their relationship has recently been marked by financial disputes and personal tension.
Phypers originally filed for divorce in July, citing irreconcilable differences. In his petition, he claimed that he has had no income since closing his wellness business last year. He argued that Richards earns more than $250,000 a month from her various ventures, including television work, endorsements, and her subscription content. Phypers also described their shared lifestyle as expensive, estimating monthly costs at $105,000 to maintain their standard of living.
Richards, in her filing, stated that the full extent of their assets and debts is still unclear. She emphasized the need for further financial review to determine what belongs to her individually and what falls under community property. Her move signals that the division of assets will likely be another contested point in the proceedings.
The split between Richards and Phypers appears to be growing more contentious. Sources close to the case have suggested that both sides are preparing for a drawn-out legal battle over money, lifestyle, and financial responsibility. The situation has already drawn public comparisons to Richards’ earlier high-profile divorce from Charlie Sheen, which was also highly publicized.
At the heart of this new dispute is the question of who should support whom. Richards, who continues to earn significantly through multiple streams, argues that Phypers should not rely on her income now that the marriage has ended. On the other hand, Phypers has positioned himself as financially disadvantaged, claiming that their marriage was built on a costly lifestyle that she primarily funded.
