Southampton FC and Royal Antwerp have paid tribute following the death of former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21.

The young Nigerian footballer spent part of his career within Southampton's academy setup after joining the club in February 2025. During his time with the English side, Udoh featured in eight matches for the club's under-21 team in Premier League 2 and continued his development as a promising attacking player.

Before moving to England, Udoh had been part of Royal Antwerp's youth structure in Belgium. He progressed through the ranks and later earned opportunities with the senior team, making 28 first-team appearances during his time with the club.

Following his departure from Southampton in September, Udoh continued his career in the Czech Republic after signing for second division side SK Dynamo Ceske Budejovice.

Southampton released a statement expressing sadness over the news and extending condolences to those closest to the player.

The club said everyone had been devastated by the loss and that thoughts were with Udoh's family and loved ones during what they described as an incredibly difficult time.

Royal Antwerp also shared a tribute after learning of the player's passing. The Belgian club expressed sorrow over the news and offered support to his family, friends and everyone who knew him.

Udoh joined Antwerp's academy in 2023 and quickly made an impression. He made 27 appearances for the club's Young Reds side and scored 12 goals during that period. His performances helped him progress into the senior setup, where he made his first-team debut in the same season.

At only 21 years old, Udoh had already experienced football across several countries and was continuing to build his professional journey. Tributes from the clubs he represented reflect the impact he made on teammates, coaches and those who worked alongside him throughout his career.

Both Southampton and Royal Antwerp have shared messages of support and sympathy as the football community mourns his passing.
