Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that forward Ousmane Dembele will undergo treatment in the coming days after suffering a muscle strain in his right calf.
The 29-year-old Ballon d'Or winner was substituted during the first half of PSG's 2-1 loss to Paris FC on Sunday in the final Ligue 1 match of the season. He was replaced by striker Goncalo Ramos after appearing to struggle physically during the game.
Following the match, head coach Luis Enrique initially suggested Dembele had been taken off because of fatigue. However, the club later clarified that the decision was made as a precaution after the forward experienced discomfort linked to a calf issue.
In an official statement released on Monday, PSG said Dembele would remain under medical care over the next few days as the club monitors his recovery.
"Ousmane Dembele, who was withdrawn as a precaution during last night's match against Paris FC due to a muscle strain in his right calf, will continue receiving treatment over the coming days," the statement read.
The injury concern comes at a critical stage of the season, with PSG preparing for one of their biggest matches of the campaign. The French champions are set to face Premier League leaders Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 30.
Dembele has played a major role in PSG's success this season and any extended absence could represent a significant setback for the club. His attacking influence has been particularly important during the European campaign, where he has delivered in decisive moments.
The France international was recently named Ligue 1 Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Despite dealing with fitness struggles earlier in the campaign, he has still produced impressive numbers in domestic competition, scoring 10 goals and registering seven assists in 22 league appearances.
His impact in Europe has also been substantial. Dembele has found the net seven times in the Champions League this season and played a key role in PSG's run to the final. He scored in both legs of the semi-final clash against Bayern Munich, helping secure the club's place in the showpiece event.
Dembele has also been included in France's 26-man squad for this summer's World Cup, which begins on June 11, making his recovery an important focus for both club and country.
