Manchester United have made a formal offer to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with the total deal potentially rising to 85 million euros (£73.8 million). The proposed transfer includes a guaranteed payment of 75 million euros (£65.2 million), and United are now waiting for Leipzig's response.

The Red Devils believe their valuation is fair for the 22-year-old Slovenian forward, and they are confident that Sesko is open to a move to Old Trafford. Newcastle United have also shown strong interest, submitting a bid around 80 million euros (£69.5 million) as negotiations with Leipzig continue.

This move by United is particularly notable, as there had been speculation the club would not make an official approach unless Sesko had signaled his willingness to join. Manchester United are reportedly prepared to part ways with Rasmus Hojlund to create space in the squad for Sesko's arrival.

Standing at 6ft 5in, Sesko has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig and is known for his powerful presence up front. His combination of size, speed, and finishing ability has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland, who also came through the ranks at Red Bull Salzburg.

Despite concerns earlier this year about Manchester United's financial outlook, club sources have indicated that the deal for Sesko is achievable. Payments for their summer targets Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, totalling £130 million, were structured to ease financial pressure. Additionally, Marcus Rashford's full wages are being covered during his loan spell at Barcelona, and United earned £5 million from Chelsea after a canceled deal involving Jadon Sancho.

United have also received over £15 million from sell-on clauses involving Anthony Elanga, Alvaro Carreras, and Maxi Oyedele.

Sesko is currently the top scorer under the age of 23 across Europe's top five leagues since arriving in Germany. His 39 goals put him ahead of Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and Liverpool's new signing Florian Wirtz. Last season, he evolved into a more complete forward, contributing across the pitch and recording the highest aerial duel success rate among Bundesliga strikers with significant involvement.

Experts believe he has the physical and technical qualities to succeed in the Premier League, even if he requires a few months to fully adapt.
