ITV has confirmed its team of pundits for the upcoming Women's European Championship, with Eniola Aluko making a return. Notably absent from the line-up is Ian Wright, despite his long-standing involvement in women's football coverage.

Aluko, a former England international, will feature alongside familiar faces such as USWNT head coach Emma Hayes and former Lioness Karen Carney. The broadcaster's coverage of the tournament will begin on Wednesday, with Finland facing Iceland in the opening match. ITV will also air England's first group game against France on July 5.

The decision to bring back Aluko and not include Wright comes after a public dispute between the two earlier this year. Aluko had suggested that Wright should be more aware of the extent of his contributions to women's football, which sparked backlash. Wright strongly disagreed with the remarks and made it clear he was offended by the implication. Although Aluko later issued an apology, Wright declined to accept it.

At the time, ITV appeared to support Wright's response and did not distance themselves from his position. However, in a notable shift, the broadcaster has now chosen not to bring Wright back for its Women's Euro 2025 coverage. Despite discussions, ITV did not reach an agreement with Wright for this summer's tournament.

Aluko's return marks a continuation of her presence in football punditry. She has regularly featured in major tournament coverage and has built a strong profile through her work both on and off the pitch. Her inclusion this year is part of a wider effort by ITV to bring together a knowledgeable and diverse panel for the championship.

Emma Hayes, who recently took over as manager of the United States women's national team after a successful spell with Chelsea, will lend her expertise during the tournament. Karen Carney, another experienced pundit and former England player, also returns to provide insights.

ITV's coverage aims to combine experienced broadcasters with voices who have been part of the game at the highest levels. With Aluko among the lead pundits, the broadcaster is preparing to offer comprehensive and dynamic analysis throughout the tournament, despite the absence of one of its most well-known football personalities.
