Connor McCaffery, the longtime boyfriend of WNBA star Caitlin Clark, is returning to the Indiana Pacers organization in a new coaching role.
According to NBA insider Evan Sidery, McCaffery has been hired as a player development coach for the Pacers' NBA G League affiliate. The move marks a return to the Pacers organization, where he previously worked before joining Butler University's coaching staff in Indianapolis.
Sidery reported on June 3 that McCaffery had spent the past two years as part of Butler's coaching staff and will now continue building his coaching career with the Pacers' developmental program. The position keeps him in Indianapolis, where Clark also plays for the Indiana Fever. Both the Fever and Pacers operate out of the same arena, making the city a central part of both their professional careers.
McCaffery graduated from the University of Iowa in 2023, earning degrees in finance and political science. During his time at Iowa, he was a member of the men's basketball team, while Clark became one of the most celebrated players in women's college basketball history.
The couple began dating in April 2023 after years of knowing each other as student-athletes at Iowa. They publicly confirmed their relationship in August 2023 when Clark shared photos of them together on Instagram and captioned the post, "Best end to summer."
Earlier this year, Clark marked their third anniversary with a heartfelt social media tribute. Sharing a glamorous photo of the pair, she wrote, "three years with my fav. You're the bestttt :)"
McCaffery also celebrated the milestone online, describing Clark as his "most beautiful best friend" and expressing gratitude for their time together.
Clark has not yet publicly commented on McCaffery's latest career move. However, she previously showed her support when he accepted his position at Butler University. At the time, she congratulated him on social media, writing, "Yayyy!!! So happy for you."
McCaffery has also been one of Clark's biggest supporters. On her 24th birthday in January, he shared a touching message praising her for the joy and laughter she brings to those around her. He added that he was excited for everything the year ahead would bring and expressed his love and admiration for the basketball star.
With McCaffery's new role in the Pacers organization, both he and Clark continue to advance their careers while remaining based in Indianapolis.
