After falling in the Eastern Conference finals, the New York Knicks are turning over a new leaf and parting company with head coach Tom Thibodeau. In the summer of 2020, Tom Thibodeau took over as head coach of the New York Knicks, the third NBA side he led after the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Knicks had not been to the playoffs since 2013 but have since made them in four of the five seasons of Thibodeau's tenure. Better still, they have won at least one series in the last three seasons, and this year they returned to the conference finals for the first time in 25 years. But clearly, the franchise felt that the best possible result had been achieved in this partnership, and have thus goodbye to Thibodeau.

After beating reigning champions the Celtics, it was a huge disappointment not to be able to overcome the Pacers in the Eastern Conference final. It was a defeat that undoubtedly weighed heavily on the team's decision. Known for pushing his starters to the maximum, Thibodeau has seen a lot of injuries to his stars over the last five years, but his results have remained high quality.

There is no doubt that several NBA franchises will be interested in his services, with him having reached the conference finals with two of his three teams (the Bulls in 2011). As for the Knicks, they will have to find the right coach to help them take the final steps towards glory and a first title since 1973.
