Access to X has been blocked after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro signed a decree blocking access to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, for 10 days following a public spat with owner Elon Musk.

An explosion and fire at a tequila factory in Mexico, has led to deaths of five people. Two others were injured in the disaster, at a Casa Cuervo distillery in the town of Tequila, Jalisco state. Casa Cuervo is the world’s largest producer of the Mexican spirit, according to its website, encompassing the Jose Cuervo and Tequila 1800 brands, among others.

The US secretary of state has said there was "overwhelming evidence" Venezuela's opposition won the recent presidential election. In a statement Antony Blinken said it was clear Edmundo González, had won the most votes - despite incumbent president Nicolás Maduro declaring a disputed victory.

A research has found sharks living off the coast of Brazil positive for cocaine after they were tested. 13 Brazilian sharpnose sharks in the waters off the city of Rio de Janeiro were tested. The scientists found cocaine present in both the liver and muscle tissue of all 13 specimens.

Police in Ecuador with the help of their sniffer dogs have found 6.23 tonnes of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment. The dogs alerted their handlers, who seized 5,630 parcels filled with a white substance that later tested positive for cocaine.
