Citing lower UK inflation, the Bank of England has cut its main interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point. The widely anticipated move brings the main cost of borrowing in Britain to 4.25% and marks the fourth rate cut by the central bank since it began easing monetary policy in August of last year.

After more than five decades of silent orbit around Earth, a relic of the Cold War space race is expected to make a dramatic return to our planet this week. Kosmos 482, part of a failed Soviet mission to Venus launched in 1972, is set to re-enter Earth's atmosphere around May 10, according to NASA and other space agencies monitoring its trajectory.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Ukraine launched a coordinated drone offensive that briefly shut down all four of Moscow's major airports. The Russian aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, confirmed on Telegram that operations at the capital's airports were suspended for several hours "in the interest of flight safety" before resuming later that day.
