In a nation grappling with severe economic hardships, ten protesters from last month's "10 Days of Rage" demonstrations in Nigeria now face serious charges, including treason. The protests, which erupted across major cities in response to worsening economic conditions, turned violent in several locations, resulting in at least seven deaths according to police, although rights groups put the number closer to 23. Nearly 700 people were also arrested during the unrest.

Severe flooding in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in northeastern Nigeria, has led to a large-scale prison break. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) confirmed that 281 inmates escaped after floodwaters breached the walls of the medium-security prison.

Sudan is grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding that has claimed at least 132 lives, according to state-run news agency SUNA. The flash floods, triggered by heavy rains and a dam collapse, have devastated large parts of the country, particularly in the northwest Red Sea State, where the collapse of the Arba'at Dam resulted in at least 30 deaths.
