In a nation grappling with severe economic hardships, ten protesters from last month's "10 Days of Rage" demonstrations in Nigeria now face serious charges, including treason. The protests, which erupted across major cities in response to worsening economic conditions, turned violent in several locations, resulting in at least seven deaths according to police, although rights groups put the number closer to 23. Nearly 700 people were also arrested during the unrest.

Sudan is grappling with the aftermath of severe flooding that has claimed at least 132 lives, according to state-run news agency SUNA. The flash floods, triggered by heavy rains and a dam collapse, have devastated large parts of the country, particularly in the northwest Red Sea State, where the collapse of the Arba'at Dam resulted in at least 30 deaths.

Several suicide bombers launched an attack at a beach restaurant in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu on Friday leaving atleast 32 people dead and dozens injured. Six members of the Somali militant group al-Shabaab targeted the restaurant at the Beach View Hotel using a suicide bomb, according to SONNA. Five attackers were killed, SONNA reported. It is unclear what happened to the sixth.

In the conflict-ridden Darfur region of Sudan, the Zamzam camp for internally displaced people (IDPs) is grappling with a severe crisis. Satellite imagery released by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab on Friday highlights a significant influx of displaced people and rising floodwaters that threaten to contaminate water and sanitation facilities. The camp, home to about 500,000 people, is now at heightened risk of cholera and other diseases.

Libya's central bank has announced the suspension of all its operations following the abduction of Musab Msallem, the bank's information technology director, in the capital, Tripoli. The kidnapping, which occurred on Sunday morning, has sent shockwaves through the institution, prompting the central bank to cease its activities until Msallem is safely released.
