Joe Jonas is showing support for his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift and her latest record, The Life of a Showgirl. In a new Esquire interview published on October 20, the Jonas Brothers musician shared his thoughts on the album, calling it "good" and complimenting its melodies.

"I've heard some of it," he said. "I think she's obviously the biggest artist out there, and I think it's good. Everybody's got an opinion about it, but from what I've heard, there are some catchy melodies."

Swift, who announced The Life of a Showgirl in August on fiancé Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast, described the project as one of her most joyful and creative yet. She said working with producers Max Martin and Shellback "felt like catching lightning in a bottle." The 12-track album dropped on October 3 to mixed reactions from fans. Speaking to Apple Music's Zane Lowe shortly after, Swift said she "welcomed the chaos," adding that "the rule of show business is, if it's the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you're helping."

Jonas and Swift dated briefly in 2008 before their highly publicized breakup, which Swift once said ended in a 27-second phone call. The split inspired her songs "Forever and Always" and "Better Than Revenge," while the Jonas Brothers released "Much Better" in response. Over the years, both artists have moved past the drama, with Jonas saying in 2023, "I'm cool with Taylor. We're cool." Swift also appeared to reference their reconciliation in her 2020 song "Invisible String," singing about sending gifts to "the boys who broke my heart" after they became fathers.

Outside of his comments about Swift, Jonas also reflected on life after his 2024 divorce from actress Sophie Turner. "Five shows in a row doesn't make it easy to meet someone for coffee," he told Esquire, adding that he's not on traditional dating apps but occasionally meets people through Instagram or TikTok.
