The rapper, 33, announced on Wednesday, November 4, that her son is named Grey Marsean Diggs. She shared the news on Instagram alongside pictures from his first birthday celebration, which featured a Grey's Anatomy-themed party.
In her emotional message, Cardi reflected on the past year and the strength she found while carrying her son through a challenging period in her life.
"Happy 1st birthday to Grey Marsean Diggs," she wrote. "It's only been 1 year since meeting you but it feels like I've had you at my side forever."
The Am I the Drama? artist revealed that her pregnancy coincided with one of the most uncertain and demanding periods of her life. However, she said having Grey with her gave her additional strength.
"I was growing you inside of me and at the same time you were giving me life!" Cardi continued, explaining that her son had brought new meaning to difficult days.
She also praised his personality, saying his smile, laughter and spirit brighten her life and every room he enters.
Cardi and Diggs welcomed their son in November 2025. A representative for the rapper confirmed his arrival to PEOPLE at the time, noting that Cardi was healthy and happy.
The birth marked a new chapter for the Grammy-winning artist, who had previously shared that motherhood, alongside her music career, had given her another reason to prioritize personal growth.
Grey is Cardi's fourth child. She also shares daughter Kulture, son Wave and daughter Blossom with her estranged husband, rapper Offset.
Cardi announced her pregnancy with Diggs during a September 2025 interview with CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King. At the time, she described feeling happy, strong and excited about welcoming another child.
The rapper has also spoken about expanding her business ventures to create lasting financial security for her children. In September, she explained that building businesses beyond music was important to ensuring her children would have something meaningful to inherit.
