Shivon Zilis has revealed that her relationship with Elon Musk ended unexpectedly, saying the billionaire abruptly ended their more than five-year romance just days after they were still exchanging messages expressing their love for each other.

Zilis, who shares four children with Musk, addressed the split in a lengthy post on X on Friday, Oct. 2. She wrote, "It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that's just how it is sometimes."

Alongside the statement, Zilis shared a screenshot of what appeared to be one of their final exchanges. On Sept. 24, she wrote to Musk, "It was really wonderful to see you for breakfast. Love you very much."

Musk replied, "Love you too," before explaining that he had not realized she could have accompanied him to a state dinner at the White House.

Zilis had previously posted a cryptic message on Sept. 27 reading, "New day, new life."

Despite describing herself as heartbroken, Zilis focused much of her statement on what the relationship meant to her and the family they built. "I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness," she wrote.

She also described herself and their children as Musk's "safe space," saying their home was filled with happiness and affection.

"We were always his safe space," Zilis wrote. "A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence."

Zilis said she wanted Musk to experience stability and care, particularly because of what she described as his "tumultuous" early life and "tortured soul."

"I've loved him more than life itself," she wrote, adding that he had "taught me 100 lifetimes of knowledge and made my cup overflow with life meaning."

The former couple shares four children: twins Strider and Azure, born in 2021, daughter Arcadia, born in 2024, and son Seldon, whose birth was confirmed in 2025.

"There is a lot of loss, but luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life," Zilis wrote.

Musk has not publicly addressed the breakup.
