Tom Cruise has revealed what he and Taylor Swift talked about while sitting together at the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener, and football was apparently a major part of their conversation.

The actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Sept. 17, where host Jimmy Fallon brought up the unlikely pairing after Cruise and Swift were spotted chatting in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium earlier in the week.

"When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?" Fallon asked.

Cruise had a simple answer. "She was schooling me on football," he said.

When Fallon asked if he was serious, Cruise replied, "For real," before explaining that Swift was the one bringing him up to speed on the game.

"First of all, she's a genius. I've been following her since she was a kid," the Mission: Impossible star said. Cruise also praised Swift and her husband, Travis Kelce, saying the couple and their friends created a "magical" atmosphere inside the suite.

The actor said the experience was particularly enjoyable because he had not attended an NFL game since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I hadn't been to a football game since pre-Covid, where I was working and everything," Cruise explained. "So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot of fun."

According to Cruise, Swift has come a long way since she first started dating Kelce. He recalled her telling him that Kelce had been patient while she learned about football.

"She said, 'You know, he's so patient,'" Cruise recalled. "I said, 'I'm sure he was.'"

Cruise insisted that Swift now knows exactly what she is doing when it comes to the sport. "She knows her stuff," he said. "She's just bringing it."

Their conversation was not limited to football, however. Cruise said the two also discussed their respective creative worlds.

"We talked about music and movies," he said, before praising Swift as "a brilliant writer," "brilliant musician" and "director." "She's funny. She's got such a great sense of humor," he added. "Very skilled."
