Phoebe Bridgers spent her 32nd birthday in the hospital after being diagnosed with appendicitis, forcing the singer to postpone a series of intimate performances in the U.K.

Bridgers revealed the health issue on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Aug. 19, sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed with an IV in her arm. "I got appendicitis for my birthday," she wrote, adding that "everything in the UK this week will have to move but I'll make it up to you!!!!"

The diagnosis came shortly after Bridgers celebrated her birthday on Aug. 17. She had been scheduled to perform a series of intimate shows in Kingston, Brighton and Bristol following the release of her third solo album, Lost Weekend, on Aug. 14.

Banquet Records, which was due to host Bridgers' Kingston performance, confirmed the change in plans on social media. "Phoebe is unwell-get well soon!!-so the Kingston events will have to move," the London record store said, adding that it was working with Bridgers' team and would provide further updates.

Despite the sudden setback, Bridgers has had a significant week professionally. Lost Weekend is currently sitting at No. 1 on the latest midweek U.K. Albums Chart, according to the Official Charts Company. If it maintains its position, it would become her first solo album to reach the top of the chart.

The album has also received praise from Taylor Swift, who celebrated Bridgers' birthday by sharing her thoughts on the new record. "It's her birthday, but she gave us a gift," Swift wrote. She went on to describe the album as "an absolute triumph in every way," praising Bridgers for writing about grief with vulnerability and honesty.

Swift and Bridgers have previously worked together on "Nothing New," which appeared on Red (Taylor's Version). Bridgers has also performed as an opening act during Swift's Eras Tour.

Bridgers is expected to return to the U.K. later this year for a series of arena shows, including two sold-out performances at London's O2 Arena in December. For now, however, her immediate performances have been postponed while she recovers from appendicitis.
