Brad Pitt is continuing his legal efforts to obtain Angelina Jolie's financial and property records as their dispute over the ownership of Château Miraval moves forward.
According to newly filed court documents, Pitt's legal team argues that Jolie has repeatedly misrepresented her reasons for selling her stake in the French winery in 2021. His attorneys are asking the court to require the actress to hand over financial records covering the period from the couple's separation in 2016 through the sale of her ownership interest.
The filing requests documents related to Jolie's income, including upfront payments for film roles, brand endorsements, and other professional work completed before she decided to sell her share of Château Miraval. Pitt's lawyers argue that these records are relevant because they could help determine whether Jolie's claim that she needed to sell the property to achieve financial independence is supported by the evidence.
According to the filing, Pitt's attorneys believe the requested documents are directly connected to Jolie's allegations and argue that without them, a jury would not receive a complete understanding of the case. During the years in question, Jolie appeared in several major productions, including Maleficent, Eternals, and Those Who Wish Me Dead.
However, Jolie's legal team has strongly opposed the request. During an informal discovery conference held on July 8, one of her attorneys described Pitt's demand for financial records as excessive and characterized it as another example of controlling behavior.
Her lawyer also argued that Pitt's insistence on a non-disclosure agreement during negotiations over the winery was perceived as abusive and controlling. The attorney claimed Jolie had largely stepped away from her career for several years to focus on helping her family recover from what she has previously described as physical and emotional abuse.
The former couple, who share six children, separated in 2016 after more than a decade together and finalized their divorce in December 2024 following years of legal proceedings.
The dispute centers on Jolie's decision to sell her stake in Château Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group. Pitt sued in 2022, alleging the sale violated an agreement requiring mutual consent before either party sold their interest. Jolie has denied that such approval was necessary and has countersued, accusing Pitt of waging what she describes as a vindictive campaign against her.
In the latest filing, Pitt's attorneys argued that Jolie is attempting to shift the focus of the case toward the couple's personal history rather than the contractual issues surrounding the winery sale. Meanwhile, Jolie's legal team maintains that the case is about her efforts to separate her finances and business interests from her former husband, not whether she needed the money from the sale.
