Luka Dončić's former fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, has asked a California court to dismiss her child support petition, marking the latest development in the legal proceedings involving the former couple.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the 28-year-old Slovenian model filed the request on Monday, August 3. The development was first reported by TMZ.
In a statement submitted to the Los Angeles County court, Goltes said she had decided to withdraw the petition in hopes of reaching a peaceful resolution.
"I am withdrawing my Petition for Child Support with the specific intention of resolving this matter amicably and by a mutual agreement which is in the best interests of our children," she wrote.
Goltes requested that the case be dismissed without prejudice. This means she retains the right to file the petition again in the future if necessary. The request has not yet been approved because Dončić's signature is still required on the court documents.
The legal update comes several months after the couple ended their engagement. In March, Dončić confirmed to ESPN that he had decided to call off the engagement shortly after the birth of their second daughter.
"I love my daughters more than anything and I've been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn't been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement," Dončić said at the time. He added that everything he does is focused on giving his daughters the best life possible.
Just one day before Dončić's public statement, Goltes had filed the child support petition in California. Court records reviewed by PEOPLE showed that she requested attorney's fees along with an unspecified amount in child support.
Despite their legal dispute, Dončić has continued to share moments with his daughters publicly. Following the Los Angeles Lakers' elimination in the second round of the NBA playoffs in May, the basketball star posted photos on Instagram showing him reunited with his children, Gabriela, 3, and Olivia, who was then seven months old.
One image showed Dončić holding his youngest daughter while playing with Gabriela. Another captured him carrying his eldest daughter on his shoulders during an outdoor outing.
Goltes and the two children currently live in Slovenia while Dončić spends most of the basketball season in the United States playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
