Perez Hilton was hospitalized in Miami on Tuesday night after appearing to self-harm during a TikTok livestream that quickly spread across social media.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to Hilton's home following multiple calls from viewers alarmed by the graphic video. Clips circulating online appeared to show the celebrity blogger covered in blood and holding a knife. Authorities confirmed he was alone inside the residence at the time.
In a statement, officials explained that in cases involving mental health crises, deputies focus on de-escalation: "Slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public."
Hilton was eventually "safely recovered" and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. Crisis response teams and licensed mental health professionals were also present to support his family.
Hilton's management team, Golden Artists Entertainment, released a statement saying they were "aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client" and added, "Our primary concern is Perez's health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further. We appreciate everyone's concern and ask that his privacy be respected during this time."
In June, Hilton announced he had moved back to Miami with his three children after living in Las Vegas for several years, saying he was "manifesting health, good health, that's what's most important."
This latest incident follows a series of health struggles earlier in the year. In March, Hilton was hospitalized in Las Vegas with severe sepsis. Weeks later, he revealed he had suffered a deep vein thrombosis in his right leg, requiring surgery and a lengthy recovery.
TikTok suspended Hilton's account shortly after the livestream ended.
As of now, Hilton remains under medical care, with his family and management urging privacy while he recovers.
