Antonela Roccuzzo has shared a heartfelt message of support for her husband, Lionel Messi, following Argentina's 1-0 defeat to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
A day after Argentina's title defence came to an end, Roccuzzo took to Instagram to express her admiration for the football icon, reminding him that his legacy extends far beyond trophies and victories.
In an emotional post written in Spanish, the 38-year-old praised Messi for his character, determination and resilience throughout his remarkable career.
"You will always be the best," she wrote. "Not only because of your talent, but because you have always remained true to yourself. No matter what happens, you never give up. You keep fighting until the very last second and always give everything for your team."
She went on to say that Messi's strength and ability to overcome setbacks are what make him truly special, adding that his perseverance continues to inspire those around him.
Roccuzzo, who has been married to the Argentina captain since 2017, also thanked him for setting an example for their three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro. She said his work ethic, humility and commitment have taught them that genuine success comes through sacrifice, dedication and staying true to one's values.
"You are the best role model for our children and an inspiration to millions of people," she wrote. "I admire you more than words can express, and I am incredibly proud to walk through life by your side. I love you so much."
Throughout the World Cup, Roccuzzo frequently celebrated Messi's achievements on social media as Argentina progressed to another final.
Following the team's round of 16 victory over Egypt on July 7, she congratulated both Messi and the national team after the veteran forward scored twice to help secure qualification to the quarter-finals.
Earlier in the tournament, she also marked another milestone after Messi scored his record-breaking 18th World Cup goal, describing it as a privilege to witness him continue making football history.
Messi was once again one of Argentina's standout performers during the tournament, finishing with eight goals and four assists as he guided the defending champions to a third World Cup final in four editions.
However, Spain's disciplined defence and Ferran Torres' extra-time winner denied Argentina another title, leaving uncertainty over whether the 39-year-old has played his final World Cup. Messi has not yet announced whether he intends to continue his international career, making his future with Argentina one of football's biggest talking points.
