Charli D'Amelio has opened up about her struggles with mental health while addressing speculation about tension within her family.
In a YouTube AMA posted July 4, the 22-year-old TikTok star admitted: "My mental health keeps declining. The age keeps going up, but the number of therapy sessions keeps going up too." She filmed the Q&A while hiking, describing it as a way to "disconnect to reconnect."
Charli explained that being "fully in charge for the first time" has added pressure, especially without mentors or guidance. Despite the challenges, she said she's excited to return to posting on YouTube after a four-month break.
Her hiatus coincided with rumors of a rift with parents Marc and Heidi D'Amelio. Fans noticed last year that Charli and her parents unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking speculation of a fallout.
Around the same time, Charli and sister Dixie stopped promoting the family's popcorn brand, Be Happy Snacks. PEOPLE later confirmed Charli is no longer involved in the business.
Charli acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation: "I would love to be able to really explain what was going on over those few months, but that means dedicated time because it was very sensitive." She added that she hopes to speak more openly about mental health to help others going through similar struggles.
Marc D'Amelio publicly denied the feud rumors in May, commenting on a DeuxMoi post: "This is not true. We love Charli but she is being manipulated and I have the receipts. Over the last six years, we have remained silent and never addressed gossip but the time has come to set the record straight."
Charli has continued to share glimpses of her emotional state with fans. On May 31, she posted a TikTok of herself crying, captioned: "i'll be back dancing later i'm depressed leave me alone."
While she hasn't fully addressed the alleged family rift, Charli made clear that speaking about mental health is important to her. "It's something that I would love to be able to talk about and help other people through because I know it's not just me that had a hard winter," she said.
