Olympic swimming star Ryan Lochte and Kayla Reid have officially finalized their divorce, bringing an end to their eight year marriage. Court records confirm the proceedings have concluded, allowing both to move forward with the next chapter of their lives.
Reid, 34, reflected on the experience in a statement, describing the divorce as one of the most difficult periods she has ever faced. She said the process also revealed a level of resilience she had not previously recognised in herself.
"I'm grateful to be moving forward with clarity, peace and a lot of faith in what's ahead," Reid said. She acknowledged that challenges remain as she continues raising her children while balancing her responsibilities as a mother and provider. Despite those obstacles, she expressed confidence that the best years of her life are still to come.
Lochte, 41, also shared a brief statement following the finalization of the divorce, saying he was looking ahead to a happier future and revealing that he has already begun planning his wedding to fiancée Molly Gillihan.
The former couple share three children together, son Caiden, daughter Liv and daughter Georgia.
Reid first filed for divorce in March 2025, beginning a legal process that unfolded over several months and involved multiple disputes before reaching its conclusion.
The Florida real estate agent, podcast host and former model described officially ending the marriage as an empowering moment. She said that while divorce is never something to celebrate, overcoming such a difficult experience had given her a new appreciation for her own strength.
Reid also expressed gratitude to the family members, friends and community who supported her throughout the separation, saying their encouragement helped her navigate one of the toughest periods of her life.
Meanwhile, Lochte confirmed last month that he is engaged to Gillihan, a teacher he began dating after separating from Reid. The couple made their relationship public on Instagram in July 2025.
Earlier this year, Lochte described Gillihan as his best friend and said moving in together was the natural next step in their relationship. He proposed at Prime & Pearl in Gainesville, Florida, the same restaurant where they had their first date.
Gillihan also has three children, two daughters named Layla and Maggie, and a son, Oliver. Lochte has previously said their children have developed a close bond, making it important to create a stable home for their blended family.
In addition to the changes in his personal life, the 12 time Olympic medalist recently began a new career chapter after accepting a university coaching position at Missouri State.
