On a recent episode of Subway Takes with Kareem Rahma, Jennifer Lopez shared that breakups aren't failures, they're opportunities.
"Breakups are not a failure. I honestly feel like it's a launchpad into your next best self," Lopez said. "We should have a party when we break up!"
She explained that endings often spark growth. "The biggest growth spurts I've had emotionally, mentally, psychologically have always come from a heartbreak," she admitted. For her, pain forces reflection: "It's the only time you dig. You're like, 'What the f--- happened? ... What could I have done better?' You change yourself completely."
Lopez also had a sharp take on the roles people play in relationships. "If you're the one who's being heartbroken, you're the winner. Because if you go around your life and you're breaking hearts ... you're the loser," she said, before adding, "I've been on both sides. We all do that."
When it comes to dating, Lopez insists she doesn't have a "type." "I don't discriminate," she laughed. "I like skinny guys. I like a chunk around the middle. I like beards, I like clean shaven, it doesn't matter. It's the person inside."
Her openness has been reflected in her diverse dating history, but she's equally clear about boundaries once things end. Speaking to Howard Stern, she put it bluntly: "Once I'm done, you're dead to me."
Despite the tough talk, Lopez has shown she can keep things professional. Just months after finalizing her divorce from Affleck, she appeared alongside him on the red carpet to promote their film Kiss of the Spider Woman.
At 56, Lopez is enjoying single life. Rumors have linked her to co-star Brett Goldstein, but sources say she's "in a great place on her own right now" and doesn't need a relationship to feel fulfilled. Meanwhile, Affleck is reportedly open to dating again, though friends note his schedule leaves little room for commitment.
