Nick Jonas has revealed the sentimental song he specifically requested for his wedding to Priyanka Chopra, sharing a personal memory tied to one of the most meaningful moments of the celebration.
The singer and actor, who married Chopra in December 2018 during lavish wedding ceremonies in India, recently reflected on the music that helped make the occasion special. Speaking to PEOPLE while promoting his new film Power Ballad, Jonas said there was one song he knew had to be part of the festivities: Lee Ann Womack's I Hope You Dance.
According to Jonas, the track held deep emotional significance because it accompanied his first dance with his mother, Denise Jonas, during the wedding reception. He explained that the song reminds him of his childhood and carries fond family memories.
Calling it a timeless classic, Jonas said the choice felt natural for such an important occasion. The mother-son dance came after his first dance with Chopra, which was set to Roberta Flack's romantic ballad The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.
Guests at the wedding described the atmosphere as emotional and heartfelt, noting that the couple's affection for one another was evident throughout the celebrations. Their wedding, which combined both Christian and Hindu traditions, attracted worldwide attention and remains one of the most talked-about celebrity ceremonies in recent years.
Jonas has often spoken about music and its role in major life moments. Earlier this year, he shared another favorite wedding song while attending the premiere of Power Ballad during the SXSW Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas. Asked about the ultimate wedding track, he highlighted Bryan Adams' classic hit (Everything I Do) I Do It for You as one of his personal favorites.
Interestingly, Jonas also revealed that the song he is most frequently asked to perform at weddings is his 2014 hit Jealous. Despite its popularity, he admitted he sometimes hesitates because the song's themes of possessiveness and jealousy may not perfectly match the spirit of a wedding celebration.
Still, he acknowledged that audiences enjoy hearing it and that it remains a crowd favorite.
Jonas is currently promoting Power Ballad, a musical comedy directed by John Carney. In the film, he plays successful singer Danny Wilson opposite Paul Rudd's character, Rick, a struggling wedding singer. The story follows the pair as they bond over music, only for tensions to emerge when Danny transforms one of Rick's songs into a hit, leading Rick to seek the recognition he believes he deserves.
