Heather McComb, 49, is a married woman. The actress tied the knot with actor Scott Michael Campbell, 54, in an outdoor ceremony in Missoula, Montana on Saturday, May 30,  just three months after the passing of her former husband, Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, who died on February 11 at the age of 48 following a battle with colorectal cancer.

McComb and Campbell were surrounded by an extraordinary show of support: her side of the bridal party numbered 13, his 12, as friends and family traveled from across the country to be present for the celebration. The bride wore a lace-embellished gown with a long train and veil, accessorized with a simple cross necklace. Campbell stood beside her in a white tuxedo jacket with black pants and tie.

"Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we were surrounded by."
"Yesterday, under the covenant of God, we got officially married," McComb wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos. "Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we were surrounded by." Campbell matched her energy, calling it "the most amazing week" of his life.

The couple had known each other for more than 15 years before beginning to date in 2023, and got engaged in April 2025. Campbell is best known for his work on Brokeback Mountain, ER, and Shameless; McComb built her career on Party of Five and Profiler before more recent appearances on Grey's Anatomy and The Rookie.

When Van Der Beek died, McComb paid tribute to him with deep warmth, honoring the decades-long friendship and love that had outlasted their marriage. "He shined so bright yet was so humble and human," she wrote. "I will treasure the last loving words we exchanged." Her joy today carries the weight of that grace, and the fullness of a life still being written.
