Katie Holmes' night out with her mother was top-notch.
Indeed, the Dawson's Creek actress and her mother Kathleen Holmes made a rare mother-daughter appearance at the American Ballet Theatre's 2026 Spring Gala in New York City on May 20.
And the outing was genuinely special. After all, Katie, 47—mother of Suri Cruise, 20, with ex Tom Cruise—was honored at the event for her lengthy support of ABT and advocacy for the arts, according to a press statement from the ballet company.
While posing for photos on the red carpet at the event, which included a sneak peek of Don Quixote, the Batman Begins actress and her mother kept everyone guessing as they made a gorgeous pair.
Katie looked stunning in a white two-piece spaghetti-strap dress with a patterned overlay, accessorized with a diamond choker necklace and stylish T-strap sandals. Kathleen, meanwhile, donned a tan and black printed midi dress with puffed sleeves, black shoes, and a matching handbag. She added a splash of color with vibrant red frames.
Katie's date with her mother in the Big Apple follows a recent night out in New York City, where she also drew attention.
Katie made headlines when she reunited with her Dawson's Creek co-star Joshua Jackson during a screening of the documentary Brunello: The Gracious Visionary on April 14.
However, what happened following the reunion of the former couple—they dated throughout the first season of their teen drama before their characters became endgame—was what really had fans of the hit teen drama series excited.
The couple raised eyebrows after Katie liked social media remarks about their relationship status.
In April, Katie uploaded a promotional photo for her and Joshua's next romance comedy Happy Hours, which featured her with her arms around her costar, and one fan commented, "Wish this was a hard launch," while another said the duo "should be a couple." Katie heartily approved of both comments.
Although the Broadway actress did not explicitly respond to the fans' lovely comments, she did hint at what it was like to work with Joshua again on the production.
"So many beautiful people worked on this project," she said in an April 16 Instagram post. "And working with Josh again was a dream."
