Benny Blanco joked about Selena Gomez's eating habits during a live conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow at a recent Goop Podcast taping.
During the May 12 event in West Hollywood, Blanco revealed that despite Gomez's status as a global beauty and fashion icon, her food preferences are surprisingly simple.
"[Selena] has the diet of a five-year-old child," Blanco said, according to reports from the live taping. He added that the singer enjoys "whatever is bad for your diet."
The producer went on to share that Gomez's favorite meals include "burgers and fries," even recalling that he recently found her eating fast food early in the morning. "This morning I walked in and she was eating Jack in the Box at 6:45 in the morning," he said.
Paltrow, whose Goop brand is heavily associated with wellness and healthy living, appeared shocked by the confession and jokingly responded, "This is NOT Goop approved!"
Blanco also admitted that Gomez "doesn't really like fruits or vegetables," although he noted there is one healthier option she genuinely enjoys. "She will eat the s--t out of Goop," he joked, explaining that Gomez likes the toppings from Goop Kitchen salads while often leaving the lettuce behind for him.
Over the years, Gomez has been open about her relationship with food, body image and health. The singer and actress, who lives with lupus, previously explained that her medication can affect her weight and appearance.
"When I'm taking [my medication], I tend to hold a lot of water weight," Gomez said during a 2023 TikTok Live. "Not a model, never will be."
She has also spoken about the impact body-shaming had on her mental health. In an earlier interview, Gomez admitted negative comments about her appearance "really messed me up for a bit."
Rather than following strict diet culture, Gomez has leaned into her love of food through projects like Selena + Chef, where she learned recipes from professional chefs while joking about her cooking abilities. In a previous interview, she rated her kitchen skills a "five out of 10."
Blanco and Gomez began dating in 2023, became engaged in 2024 and later married in an intimate ceremony in September 2025. Gomez has often praised Blanco's cooking skills, once joking that while he cooked during Thanksgiving preparations, she mostly "watch[ed] and encourage[d]" him.
