Ethan Hawke has opened up about his daughter Maya Hawke's Valentine's Day wedding to musician Christian Lee Hutson, describing the experience as deeply emotional and unforgettable.
Speaking at the Time 100 Gala in New York City on April 23, the actor reflected on the moment he walked his daughter down the aisle.
"That was pretty fun," he said, before adding, "What really makes it is, you know, walking your daughter down the aisle... I've had a lot of feelings in my life, and that was one I have no words for what that feels like. I have no vocabulary for that. I felt like I was 13 experiencing life for the first time."
The wedding, which took place on February 14 in New York City, was a surprise ceremony attended by close family and friends, including Maya's mother Uma Thurman and several of her Stranger Things co-stars such as Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Sadie Sink.
Ethan also shared his admiration for his new son-in-law, calling him "an amazing young man." He added, "The man she married is an amazing young man, Christian, so I'm a very lucky individual."
Maya, 27, and Hutson, 35, had kept much of their relationship private after first being linked in 2023. Their wedding came as a surprise to many, with details of their engagement largely kept out of the public eye.
Since tying the knot, Maya has spoken about married life, describing it as "absolutely fantastic." She added, "I'm a very, very lucky person who's very happy right now... couldn't be more grateful."
In another interview, she shared that she feels fortunate to have married someone she considers her best friend, saying it allows her to feel fully understood and supported.
The actress has previously spoken about the value of building a relationship on friendship, noting, "I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It's the best."
