Denise Richards has shared a deeply emotional tribute following the death of her ex-partner and longtime friend Patrick Muldoon, describing the loss as devastating.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Richards wrote, "This is so hard for me to put into words. I am deeply heartbroken & devastated losing you. You were my best friend & my family."

The actress reflected on their decades-long bond, recalling how they first met in acting class when she was 19 and he was 21.

"And here we are. 36 years later. My whole adult life & I don't know it without you," she continued. "The friendship, love, support, respect & loyalty we had was unconditional and rare."

Richards went on to describe Muldoon as someone who "lit up every room you walked into" and called him "larger than life," adding that he was a "most underrated actor."

She praised his personality, writing, "Everything you did was infectious. Your laugh, your kindness, your wit, your strength, your loyalty, your passion, and your zest for life."

Opening up about their close connection, she shared, "We've been each other's rock. Our memories together are endless," adding that he "had my back and protected me more than anyone."

The actress also expressed how difficult the loss has been during a challenging period in her life. "I don't know what I'm going to do without you here. You're my voice of reason & pillar of strength," she wrote. "Especially during this last year of pain & heartache."

"And now I need you more than ever, for this pain and heartache losing you," she added. "We thought we'd live forever or at least into our 90's."

Richards ended her tribute with a personal message: "I will be looking for those signs. I need to know you're still here with me. I love you so much & miss you dearly."

Muldoon died on April 19 at the age of 57 following a heart attack. The two had dated in the late 1990s but remained close friends for decades afterward.

Her daughter, Lola Sheen, also paid tribute, writing that Muldoon had always been a constant in their lives. "When I think of my mom I think of you," she shared, adding, "I'm so thankful I got to know you and witness a friendship so pure and special."
