Patrick Muldoon, known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, has died at the age of 57. His manager confirmed that the actor passed away on Sunday, April 19.
According to reports, Muldoon died following a heart attack. His sister said he had been at home before he was found unresponsive, and despite efforts by paramedics, he could not be revived.
Muldoon rose to fame in the early 1990s after taking on the role of Austin Reed in Days of Our Lives, where he appeared from 1992 to 1995 before returning briefly in 2011. He later joined Melrose Place, playing the villain Richard Hart during the mid-1990s.
Earlier in his career, he appeared in Saved by the Bell as Jeffrey Hunter, and went on to star in the 1997 film Starship Troopers as Zander Barcalow. Over the years, he built a steady career across both television and film, with roles in various projects including thrillers and TV movies.
Beyond acting, Muldoon was also involved in film production through his company Storyboard Productions. His credits included work on films such as The Card Counter, Marlowe and Riff Raff. He had recently been working on the upcoming film Kockroach, which is currently in production.
Just days before his death, Muldoon shared his excitement about the project on social media, writing, "So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazzie Beetz and Alec Baldwin."
His most recent acting role was in the upcoming crime thriller Dirty Hands, which is expected to be released later this month.
Following news of his passing, tributes began to emerge from those who had worked with him. Actor Jake Getman wrote, "RIP Patrick Muldoon. Worked with him when I was 8 on Little Dead Rotting Hood — a great guy and always kept the energy light," adding "#gonetoosoon."
Muldoon is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr., and his sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa, along with extended family members.
