Singer d4vd has been arrested in connection with the death of teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered in the trunk of his impounded Tesla in September 2025.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 21-year-old artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was taken into custody on Thursday, April 16. Authorities said he is being held without bail. Police also stated that the case will be presented to the District Attorney's office on Monday for consideration of potential charges.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office acknowledged the arrest, noting that prosecutors will review the evidence once the case is submitted to determine whether charges should be filed. Officials added that no further details are available at this time.
According to a police source, Burke was arrested in the Hollywood Hills on a probable cause warrant and has allegedly not cooperated with investigators. His legal team, including attorneys Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski and Regina Peter, strongly denied the allegations. In a statement, they said the evidence would show that Burke was not responsible for Hernandez's death and emphasized that no formal charges or indictment have been issued. They also stated that they intend to defend him vigorously.
The arrest follows earlier developments in the case, including a grand jury investigation that identified Burke as a possible suspect. Prosecutors had previously indicated that he may have been connected to the death of the 14-year-old, who authorities believe may have been the victim of foul play.
Hernandez's body was discovered on September 8, 2025, one day after her 15th birthday, inside a Tesla registered to Burke. The vehicle had been impounded after being reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, where neighbors said it had remained for several weeks. Police were alerted after reports of a strong odor coming from the car.
Investigators believe the teenager had been dead for weeks before she was found. Officials have clarified that some earlier reports about the condition of the body were inaccurate. Her cause and manner of death remain under investigation, and certain records have been sealed due to the ongoing case.
Authorities continue to examine evidence and follow leads, while questions remain about how the victim and the artist may have been connected.
