Cheryl Hines is speaking out after Chelsea Handler alleged that she and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sold her a "toxic" home years ago.
During a recent podcast appearance, Hines questioned why the issue is only surfacing now, noting that the property was purchased roughly five years ago. She suggested the delay undermines the seriousness of the claims and expressed skepticism about the public reaction.
Hines also pushed back on the idea that the couple knowingly sold a defective home. According to her, she made an effort to maintain goodwill after the sale by contacting Handler directly and offering support if any issues arose.
"I left my number and told her to reach out if she needed anything," Hines said, emphasizing that such a gesture would be unlikely if there had been an attempt to conceal serious problems.
She further suggested that Handler's remarks may be exaggerated for entertainment value, adding that public criticism could be aimed at generating attention or humor rather than presenting a full account of events.
The response follows Handler's recent comments in interviews and on her podcast, where she described the home as unlivable at the time of purchase. She claimed renovations and unexpected complications delayed her move-in for several years.
Handler also alleged that inspections uncovered significant issues, including environmental concerns and structural complications, which she said were not disclosed beforehand. At one point, she described the property as a "disaster," adding that multiple people warned her about its condition.
Despite the setbacks, Handler has since confirmed she recently moved into the home after completing extensive work.
Cheryl, however, maintains that the allegations do not reflect her experience with the property and continues to question both the timing and intent behind the renewed criticism.
