Ed Sheeran has shared a personal update about his wife Cherry Seaborn, revealing that she is doing well after previously being diagnosed with cancer while pregnant with their second child.

The singer opened up about the difficult period during a recent episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast hosted by Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco. Reflecting on the most challenging moments of his life, Sheeran recalled the day he learned about Seaborn's diagnosis.

"Cherry rang me up and said she had cancer," Sheeran said. "That was probably the worst day."

The Grammy-winning artist explained that the moment was especially overwhelming because several other painful events were unfolding in his life at the same time. The week of the diagnosis also coincided with the death of his friend and collaborator Jamal Edwards.

"That was probably the worst day. Probably the worst week, because Jamal died that week as well," he said. Seaborn was diagnosed in 2022 while pregnant with the couple's second daughter, Jupiter. According to Sheeran, the situation was particularly complicated due to the pregnancy, which delayed immediate treatment.

"She's fine," he said when asked how she is doing today. "She had the operation, she was pregnant at the time, that was why it was difficult. She had the operation to remove the tumor after she'd given birth to our second child, and thankfully [she's] totally fine."

The singer admitted the experience was frightening for him and his family. "It was f***ing scary," he said. During the same conversation, Sheeran also reflected on the contrast between some of the hardest and happiest moments of his life. When asked about his best day, he pointed to his wedding. "My wedding day," he said.

Sheeran and Seaborn married in 2019 and have largely kept their relationship and family life out of the spotlight. The couple share two daughters Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3.
During the podcast conversation, Lil Dicky asked Sheeran whether he would like to have a son in the future. The singer said he was unsure but suggested he might actually prefer having another daughter, adding that he enjoys being a father to girls.

Sheeran also reflected on what it has been like raising two children who are close in age. He explained that the early period was quite chaotic, but over time it has worked out well for their family because the girls now do many things together, including playing, bathing, sleeping and going to school, which has helped create a steady routine.
