Benny Blanco is clearing the air after his feet unexpectedly became a viral topic online.
The music producer addressed the situation during a recent episode of his Friends Keep Secrets podcast, where he spoke with Ed Sheeran, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco about his hygiene habits following the online backlash.
The conversation began when Blanco asked Sheeran whether he showers every day. "Do you shower every day?" Blanco asked. "Yeah sometimes twice a day, mostly twice a day actually," Sheeran replied.
Sheeran then joked that while both of them might appear like they do not smell great, the reality is quite different. "I feel like I'm like you though I look like I don't smell good," Sheeran said. "But actually, you're the best-smelling person I know."
Blanco quickly agreed with the comment. "I know, I smell good," he said with a smile. "And I never, like even if I don't shower..." The conversation soon turned humorous as the group began joking about their natural scents. At one point, Batalucco suggested smelling Blanco's hands, while Lil Dicky commented that Blanco "always smells good."
Burd also recalled people once telling him he had a distinct personal scent. "People used to say that I have a particular smell," Burd said. "They said it's not good or bad. You have a smell. I found that so unnerving."
Blanco teased his co-host in response. "No sometimes you stink," he said. The jokes escalated when Batalucco encouraged Sheeran to compare the smell of Burd's and Blanco's belly buttons. After leaning in, Sheeran reacted dramatically. "That's like a bum hole," Sheeran said of Burd's belly button. "Can I have something that's going to take that smell away?"
Blanco, meanwhile, insisted that his own belly button had no noticeable scent. "Mine smells just like nothing," he said.
The playful conversation comes after Blanco's feet became the subject of viral commentary following the debut episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, which premiered on Feb. 24. During the episode, Blanco was seen sitting on a couch with his bare feet visible to the camera, and viewers quickly pointed out that they appeared dirty.
The comment section quickly filled with jokes from viewers reacting to the moment. "Good podcast, wash your feet benny and wash the floors," one user wrote, while another joked, "Those dawgs need to be hosed down."
Blanco later addressed the viral moment during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside Burd. During the segment, he defended himself and insisted the situation was the facility's fault rather than his own. To make his point, Blanco removed his sock on the show and showed the audience his foot, joking that he actually has great feet and inviting the cameras to zoom in to prove they were clean.
Despite the online jokes, Blanco appears to be taking the viral moment in stride. He even received support from his wife, Selena Gomez, who shared a sweet video kissing him after the chatter about his feet spread online.
