Brittany Bowe and Hilary Knight have officially taken their relationship to the next level while competing in their second Olympic Games as a couple.

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Knight, the 36 year old captain of Team USA's women's hockey team, proposed to Bowe, a 37 year old speed skater. Their love story began during the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where they first had the opportunity to truly connect despite having known each other for years through various Team USA events and previous Games.

Knight shared the special moment on Instagram, posting a video of herself presenting a ring box to Bowe. The speed skater appeared surprised and overjoyed. In another photo, the couple posed together as Bowe showed off her engagement ring. Knight captioned the post with a heartfelt message, writing that the Olympics brought them together and that this moment made them forever.

In an interview in January ahead of the 2026 Winter Games, Bowe described her relationship with Knight as the greatest reward from her time in Beijing. She explained that although they had crossed paths before, the unique circumstances of the pandemic allowed them to slow down and spend meaningful time together.

Their early dates were simple. With strict COVID protocols in place, they spent time walking around the Olympic Village after dinner, masked and mindful of safety measures. Bowe recalled that those quiet walks became the foundation of their relationship, offering a rare chance to focus on each other without outside distractions.

After the 2022 Games, during which Bowe earned her second career bronze medal and Knight secured her third Olympic silver medal with Team USA, the couple returned to the United States and eventually settled together in Salt Lake City.

The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan mark Bowe's fourth Olympic appearance and Knight's fifth. Both athletes have expressed excitement about having their families in attendance. Bowe shared that their loved ones have already secured tickets to cheer each of them on, making the experience even more meaningful.

This year, Bowe narrowly missed another podium finish in the women's 1,000 meter race, placing fourth. Meanwhile, Knight advanced to the women's hockey gold medal game after Team USA defeated Sweden. The final presents her with an opportunity to claim her second Olympic gold medal, adding another milestone to an already remarkable career.
